Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect when booking a professional photoshoot?

You can expect every photoshoot to start with a fifteen minute phone consultation where we will discuss your goals, preferred style and intended uses for your images. ie. LinkedIn, businesses, websites, portfolios, print, etc. This helps us decide whether we need to scout locations, hire additional team members like assistants and hair and makeup, what gear is required for the shoot and most importantly it helps us understand your expectations, comfort level and overall personality and/or brand more. Having a few ideas or a mood board ready to share with us is a great way to help us get started in the right direction. If you like the images we have here, that’s perfect. Our specialty.

After we discuss the scope of your project we can move on to scheduling your photoshoot. Most photoshoots are booked 2-3 weeks in advance and 4-6 weeks in advance during busier periods. Special arrangements can be made if you require a shoot before the available time at an additional fee. I will be in touch with you two days prior to your photoshoot to confirm all details and go over the plan for the day of the shoot.

What can I expect on the day of my photoshoot?

On the day of the shoot, I will arrive early (one hour before the first scheduled photo) and setup the gear in the appropriate location, take test images, review the plan and begin. Each individual takes roughly 5-10 minutes to photograph. During each session I will work closely with every individual making sure to guide and direct everyone, no matter how nervous they are. The shoots are meant to be lighthearted and professional, this helps everyone stay at ease and enjoy the process.

During the shoot each person can expect to have have a seat or stand in a specific area and simply take a few directions. I will share the images as I go and collect all necessary information to ensure images get delivered to the right person. If you have a producer, director or art director on location they are more than welcome to work closely with us as we are shooting.

Once everyone has has their photo taken we can sit down and review the images to make sure we hit the mark. When everyone is happy with what they see I’ll quietly tear down my equipment and be out of your hair.

What happens after the photoshoot?

Our file backup and editing process ensures your images will be safe. Because hard drives have a tendency to fail over time it is important to have redundant backups of all your files. Knowing this, I backup all files on a hard drive on location and on a server off location. Once your files are backed up, I will make selections of the best images, do basic editing and send you proofs. Once selections have been made, I will do final edits which includes blemish and skin retouching, teeth whitening, dodging and burning and whatever else is necessary. Full resolution images and images sized for all your needs ie websites, social media and print will also be included.

What is the purpose of different file types and sizes?

Files used for web, graphic design and print have different requirements when it comes to the size and type of file needed. We take care of the technical side of this, but if you’d like to learn more you can check out our blog post about optimal file handling here.

What am I allowed to do with the files once I receive them?

Anything you want! You can use them for business cards, online profiles, email signatures, bios on websites… etc. The files are yours.
