Derek Lafont

My love for photography started with photojournalism and photographing special moments with family and friends. I try to carry that passion into my work everyday. It has been 17 years since I decided to pursue photography and have had many ups and downs along the way. This career has challenged me in ways I did not expect and I’m extremely grateful for every experience I’ve had so far. I strive to be a little better everyday and will always be pushing myself and the love for this craft.

Connecting, understanding and directing subjects who aren’t comfortable in front of the camera is a large part of what I love to do and is an important part of my process. I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of many incredible projects and hope to be a part of many more.

Photographers that inspire me:

Werner Bischof, Platon, Robert Capa, Hiroji Kubota, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Martine Franck and so, so many more.

Thank you for your time,

Derek
